Accessibility
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This page records what has actually been checked and what is still open, rather than claiming blanket conformance.
What has been done
- Contrast was measured, not eyeballed. Every rendered text element on the page was swept programmatically and checked against its real composited background at its real size and weight, using the 4.5 to 1 and 3.0 to 1 thresholds as applicable.
- Motion is optional. Content is visible as its resting state. The scroll reveals are an enhancement layered on top, so the page reads correctly with JavaScript disabled or failing. Turning on "reduce motion" in your operating system removes every transition and replaces the hero video with a still image.
- Keyboard. Every link and control is reachable by keyboard in a logical order, focus is always visible, and a skip link is the first thing in the tab order. Nothing on the page traps focus or locks scrolling.
- Structure. One h1 per page, headings in order, landmark elements, and a language attribute on the document.
- Images. Every photograph has alt text that describes what is actually in the frame. The hero video is decorative, carries no information that is not also in the text, has no audio track, and is hidden from assistive technology.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout reflows to a single column and remains usable at 320px wide and at 200 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
- The embedded map. The map in the Visit section is a Google product rendered inside an iframe. Its internal controls and contrast are set by Google and cannot be corrected from here. The full address and phone number are given as plain text directly beside it, so no information is available only through the map.
- Booking happens off site. Booking runs through Booksy, which is a separate site with its own accessibility position. We cannot make guarantees about it. If booking online is difficult for you, the shop takes bookings by phone.
- No assistive technology audit yet. The checks above are automated and manual keyboard testing. This site has not yet been tested end to end with a screen reader by someone who uses one daily. That is a real gap and it is listed here rather than papered over.
